iPad Battery Pack / Charging Pad

Is there such thing as an external iPad battery pack or charging pad for my iPad? I know they make cell phone battery charging pads that hook into your phone and then charges your battery without needing access to an electric outlet. Does anyone know of anyone who makes iPad battery packs similar to this?

The New Trent external iPad battery will extend your iPad battery life to up to 20 hours and also charges your iPhone and other cell phones. It's very lightweight and portable, inexpensive ($60 on Amazon), and well made. The battery pack itself is a portable rechargeable battery that plugs into your iPad using the included cable. There's multiple ports so you can charge more than one device at once.

If you need a battery pack that lasts more than 20 hours, they also make another battery pack called the New Trent IMP1000 battery pack which will last up to 30 hours. That model costs about $20 more and is slightly bigger.

I was looking for the same thing and stumbled upon a really ingenious little solution: The Kensington PowerBack Battery Case. It's an iPad case with a built in battery charger that can extend your iPad's battery for 5 extra hours! It's freakin rad, check it out!

The iPad requires 10 watts (or 2 amps) of power to charge it, so any external battery charger designed to work for a cell phone won't work for the iPad. Just make sure the battery pack you end up getting will deliver that amount of power, and you'll be fine. You might like something like the Mophie Universal Powerstation. It's a small external battery charger that you can use to recharge your iPad's battery when it dies. I use it mostly for plane trips and cafes, since I have a car charger already.

HyperMac makes great external battery packs that can charge your iPad. Their largest and most powerful external battery pack can keep your iPad charged for up to 99 hours! But that model will cost you dearly, $500 to be exact, and weighs nearly 5 pounds! Luckily there's a smaller 60-watt-hour battery for about $170 that weighs less than 1 lb and will charge your iPad for 34 hours, perfect for a weekend road trip. You can get this external battery on their website here.
