How to connect iPad to TV

How do I connect my iPad to my TV so I can project my iPad screen onto my wide-screen TV? Do I need a special cable or app to do this? Also, will it work with my apps and games or just the videos & music?

The iPad has built-in support for 'TV out', which will allow you to connect your iPad to your TV. This will let you watch your videos, TV shows, and movies from your iPad's Video app, but keep in mind that very few third party apps will support video out. To connect your iPad to your TV all you need is one cable and to enable a setting on your iPad. Here's the instructions:

1. Get an iPad AV cable for TV out. You can get the official one by Apple or get something like this.

2. Connect your iPad to your TV with the iPad AV cable.

3. On your iPad, go to Setttings > Video and find the 'TV Out' section

4. Toggle the 'Widescreen' option to 'On' and choose NTSC or PAL, depending on which country your TV is built for.

Your iPad should now be displaying on your TV!!

The only way to show your iPad apps and games on your TV is to jailbreak your iPad and install a Cydia app called DisplayOut. You'll also need to get a Y cable, which is a cable with an aux/headphone jack on one end and red & white audio/video cables on the other. You'll also need the VGA connection kit from Apple.

Here's a video of what the iPad looks like with DisplayOut up and running:
